THE BIG COMBO received a great review that ran in the print and online edition of The Portland Mercury this week. Jason Rouse and I also spoke to Ted Douglass on Metroscope PDX about the show. Check out the review and radio interview, then buy your tickets to see the show!
My most recent sketch class at the Brody Theater had their student show last night, and it was a raucous success! I directed and produced the show based out of the best writing to emerge from the 7-week class. The writing was excellent, the performers nailed it, and the sold-out crowd ate it up.
Congratulations to writers Anton Cobb, Sean DeNicola, James Hartenfeld, Danny Hendrix, Jonathan Hopp, DJ Hupp, Cara Parker King, Nick McCann and Jayne White. And big thanks to performers Scott Engdahl, Kerry Leek, Monique Fleming, Corin Garratt, Jay Flewelling and DJ Hupp, and Tech Direction Sophya Vidal and Assistant Director Nick Beaird. It was a great night all around!

THE BIG COMBO is an original sketch comedy show from writer/producer Caitlin Kunkel (Second City, Late Night Action) and writer/director Jason Rouse (Sweat, Live Wire, Weekend at Bernie’s). They’ve created a show concerning complex lists, nervous rotisserie chickens, the dangers of fresh water swimming, waiting rooms, the deep knowledge of four-year-olds, sanctioned time travel and Boz Scaggs. They’re able to do this because of the venerable talent assembled from Portland’s improv, theater and stand-up scene.
